Thursday, June 8, 2023, 8:27 AM ChST (Wednesday, June 7, 2023, 22:27 UTC)
Report prepared by the U.S. Geological Survey.
AHYI SEAMOUNT VOLCANO (VNUM #284141)
20°25'12" N 145°1'48" E, Summit Elevation -259 ft (-79 m)
Current Volcano Alert Level: ADVISORY
Current Aviation Color Code: YELLOW
No volcanic activity was observed in partly cloudy satellite images of the sea surface around Ahyi Seamount, and no signficant earthquakes were located from distant seismic stations. A possible hydroacoustic signal was detected from the Wake Island Hydrophone array.
There are no local monitoring stations near Ahyi Seamount, which limits our ability to detect and characterize volcanic unrest there. We will continue to monitor available remote hydrophonic, seismic, and satellite data closely.
