Activity Update: All volcanoes in the Cascade Range of Oregon and Washington are at normal background activity levels. These include Mount Baker, Glacier Peak, Mount Rainier, Mount St. Helens, and Mount Adams in Washington State and Mount Hood, Mount Jefferson, Three Sisters, Newberry, and Crater Lake in Oregon.

Past Week Observations: During the past week, small earthquakes were detected at Mount St. Helens and Mount Rainier. Early on July 3, sensors recorded a minor debris flow in Tahoma Creek at Mount Rainier. Although the flow has not yet been confirmed by observers on the ground, we infer that it resulted from a glacial outburst originating from the South Tahoma Glacier, based on its similarity to signals from debris flows in 2023 and 2025. It is likely that the debris flow did not reach the Nisqually River. In addition, scientists were in the field this week conducting geologic investigations at Glacier Peak.
