NORTHERN MARIANA ISLANDS VOLCANO OBSERVATORY DAILY UPDATE
U.S. Geological Survey
Monday, February 6, 2023, 4:13 PM ChST (Monday, February 6, 2023, 06:13 UTC)

Report prepared by the U.S. Geological Survey.

AHYI SEAMOUNT (VNUM #284141)
20°25'12" N 145°1'48" E, Summit Elevation -449 ft (-137 m)
Current Volcano Alert Level: ADVISORY
Current Aviation Color Code: YELLOW

Unrest at Ahyi Seamount continues.  No unusual activity was detected in remote sensing data over Ahyi Seamount over the past day however, the data over the past day are too course to detect water discoloration.  Possible activity was detected in the pressure sensor data over past 24 hours.

There are no local monitoring stations near Ahyi Seamount, which limits our ability to detect and characterize volcanic unrest there. We will continue to monitor available remote hydrophonic, seismic, and satellite data closely.
