Photo Information

Town of Toez, Colombia, struck by earthquake and swept by lahar on June 6, 1994
Photograph by K.M. Scott on July 4, 1994

Close view of the edge of the flow where it inundated Toez's main street and partially buried a house; some of the damage to the house was first caused by the earthquake. The location of the house is shown in the previous aerial photograph of Toez.

This view is looking downstream. Note the landslide scars on the steep valley walls behind the house on both sides of the valley and the peak-flow deposit on the opposite valley wall (click on photograph for large-sized image).
