VDAP Images: Rabaul, Papua New Guinea

Rapid deployment of volcano-monitoring instruments.

A mobile volcano observatory (stacked on pallet in images below) was installed at Rabaul caldera in Papua New Guinea following an eruption that destroyed the monitoring network of the Rabaul Volcano Observatory on September 19, 1994; the system is still used to monitor restless activity at the caldera.
