
Boya well, as seen from the northwest. The well is about 6 meters deep and is the primary water source for the region extending about 10 km in all direction. Water is transferred from the well to the small, circular clay basins where stock (camels, goats, burros) are allowed to drink. The well is located within stream gravels deposited at the mouth of the Derraule canyon, which drains the Eritrean plateau to the west.
