Webcam Notes
July 31, 2009: The UV damaged window on the webcam enclosure was replaced today. Visibility is markedly improved. The webcam is operational 24/7 and faithfully records the dark of night if there are no sources of incandescence or other lights. If you look carefully around early morning or late evening, you may see a few thermal areas emitting steam. See 'Current Activity' for the latest Mauna Loa information.

This panorama is a composite of five images from a research camera positioned on the north rim of Mokuʻāweoweo, the summit caldera of Mauna Loa volcano. The images update every 20 minutes. At times, clouds may obscure visibility. The camera is subject to sporadic breakdown, and its remote location makes immediate repair impossible.
