<headline>Cascade Range Weekly Update</headline>
<description>Activity Update: All volcanoes in the Cascade Range of Oregon and Washington are at normal levels of background seismicity. These include Mount Baker, Glacier Peak, Mount Rainier, Mount St. Helens, and Mount Adams in Washington State; and Mount Hood, Mount Jefferson, Three Sisters, Newberry Volcano, and Crater Lake, in Oregon.

Recent Observations: Monitoring data indicates that activity at Cascade Range volcanoes has remained at background levels during the past week. On November 15-16 the PNSN located six small earthquakes (max magnitude M 2.0) ~5-6 km south of Mount St. Helens. Earthquakes occur occasionally in this area, and are interpreted to be tectonic earthquakes on the St. Helens Seismic Zone. Occasional earthquakes continue to occur west of Newberry in association with AltaRock Energy&#039;s Enhanced Geothermal Systems (EGS) experiment (for details, see http://altarockenergy.com/projects.htm ). CVO hydrologic crews were in the field this week conducting routine stream gage measurements in the South Fork Toutle River.

The U.S. Geological Survey Cascades Volcano Observatory and the University of Washington continue to monitor the Washington and Oregon volcanoes closely and will issue additional updates and changes in alert level as warranted.
