Kilauea Volcano, Hawai`i.
Night view of drainback on the east rift zone of Kilauea Volcano. The lava was erupted from a fissure about 100 m to the NW and cascaded over a 10-m high fault scarp before disappearing into a gaping crack.

Part of a large `a`a flow is pouring into a crack on the upper northeast rift zone of Mauna Loa during the 1st day of its 1984 eruption. A red cloud of ash billows from the crack. The flow is moving from left to right.
