Close view looking upslope toward several landslide scars across a deposit that came to rest before reaching Río Paez; these are the same landslide scars in the previous photograph. The majority of the landslides rushed into Río Paez, adding rock, soil, and vegetation to the growing lahar in the valley bottom. The largest landslides slid across the valley floor to the opposite river bank, and a few small landslides didn't quite reach Río Paez. |
